Section 1: Application & Admission
a) Where can I obtain information about the Master of Education programme?

b) What are the entrance requirements of the Master of Education programme?
Please refer to the section of “Admission Requirements” on the website of the Graduate School.
c) How do I submit my application?
The application should be submitted online at http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online/. NO paper or hardcopy application will be accepted.
Please do NOT send any original documents to the University in any circumstances as the University will not be responsible for any documents mislaid. However, original documents of the qualifications stated in the application must be presented for verification at registration. Failure to do so shall lead to disqualification of the application and any offer made will be rescinded.
d) How much is the application fee and how should I pay it?
For details about the application fee, please refer to the website of Academic Programmes & Admissions (http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/application > Submission of Application).
Applicants are encouraged to pay online by using either a VISA or Master credit card. Alternatively, applicants may choose to pay the fee by other payment methods as indicated on the payment page.
For applicants who are not able to pay online, please remember to input a Payment Reference and upload a copy of the payment proof (e.g. ATM Advice, Bank-in Slip, Telegraphic Transfer) onto the EdUHK Online Application Systems at http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online/. All the payment proof must clearly show the full English name of applicant, application number and the programme applied. No personal cheque or cash will be accepted. Please note that applications will remain incomplete until the correct fee is received.

e) What documents have to be submitted with my application?
You should upload the following documents online at http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online/:
Applicants from different backgrounds are required to upload various supporting documents:
Graduates from Mainland Universities:
- A PDF scanned copy of the following documents:
Final-year Students:
- A scanned copy of the latest transcript and testimonial certifying your current student status and expected graduation date.
EdUHK/ HKIEd Graduates:
- You are not required to submit any copies of academic transcript(s) and certificate(s) issued by EdUHK/ HKIEd.
- For qualifications obtained in other universities or institutions after graduating from EdUHK, submission of transcript(s) and certificate(s) are still required.
Graduates from Other Universities/Institutions in Hong Kong and Other Regions:
- A scanned copy of degree certificate andfinal transcript showing your completion of the qualification(s).
- A valid Overseas Credentials Evaluation Report (國(境)外學歷學位認證書) [Sample] issued by the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) (中國留學服務中心) for Mainland applicants.
Proof of English Proficiency
- A scanned copy of a valid English language test report (e.g. IELTS / TOFEL / CET6 report).
- A certified letter confirming the medium of instruction of your entrance qualification is in English
Additional Supporting Documents
- Assessment report from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic & Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), if necessary.
- Some master’s degree programmes may stipulate additional requirements for admissions. For details, please refer to Additional Supporting Documents.
f) What should I do if I wish to update my application information after my application has been submitted?
Applicants can only update information such as email, contact number, correspondence address and pending examination grades directly through the system. If you want to change other information, please submit your request in writing to the MEd Programme (medadmission@eduhk.hk) of the Graduate School.
g) When will I be informed of the application result?
Successful applicants will receive individual notification emails. Applicants who do not receive any admission offer before the commencement of the programme may assume their application is unsuccessful. No individual notifications will be sent to unsuccessful or waitlisted applicants.
h) I am a final year undergraduate student, am I eligible to apply?
Yes, your application will be confirmed subject to the successful completion of your degree studies. Please upload online at http://www.eduhk.hk/acadprog/online/ your testimonial and a copy of your current year’s results when it is available.
i) I wish to seek advice on the choice of Area of Focus. Who should I contact?
You are most welcome to contact the Area of Focus Coordinating Team. Their contact details can be found in the Online Prospectus at the website of Graduate School.
j) Is it necessary to submit any recommendation letters for my application?
Recommendation letters are optional for application for the Master of Education programme unless we specifically requested for it.
If you would like to submit any recommendation letter(s), please upload them directly to the EdUHK Online Application System. In case your Referee(s) would like to submit the recommendation letter(s) for you, please submit the letter(s) by email (medadmission@eduhk.hk).
Please remind your Referee(s) to include the following information in the letter(s):
- Your Full Name;
- Your Application Number; and
- Your Applied Programme.
k) Is there any specific format requirement for recommendation letters?
There is no specific format and template for recommendation letters.
l) Can I apply for on-campus accommodation after being admitted to the programme?
For non-local postgraduate students on self-funded programmes, the University does not guarantee on-campus accommodation, but students may apply for temporary accommodation in our Tai Po campus subject to the availability of places. Students may visit the Off-campus Housing Information Platform for basic information on renting accommodation outside the campus

Section 2: Student Visa / Entry Permit Application
a) Am I a non-local applicant?

b) How can I apply for a student visa after accepting the admission offer to the Master of Education programme?
Non-local students without IANG/ Dependant visa must obtain a student visa in order to study in Hong Kong. Failure to obtain a student visa will result in not being permitted to register in the programme. You will be informed of the details about student visa application when an admission offer is made to you.
c) How long will the application for a student visa normally take?
Once your application for a student visa is received, all documents will be sent to the Hong Kong Immigration Department for processing. It normally takes around 6 to 8 weeks to complete the process. You are strongly advised to submit your student visa application as early as possible.

a) How is the Master of Education programme structured?

b) What Areas of Focus are offered in the Master of Education Programme?

d) What is the medium of instruction?

e) How long is the study period of the Master of Education programme?
Full-time students normally take one year to complete the programme while part-time students normally take two years to complete the programme.
f) Am I eligible to take the Research Project? When should I indicate my choice of taking the Research Project?
Students, based on their needs and interests, can opt for a Research Project instead of taking any 3 Specialist courses after admitted to the programme. The Research Project comprises supervised work on an agreed topic with the research project supervisor.
More detailed information about Research Project will be available during the Orientation.
g) How many credit points (cps) do I need to take in order to fulfil the requirements of Master of Education programme?

h) What is the Credit Transfer policy of the Master of Education programme?
Students who have relevant postgraduate qualifications may apply for credit transfer for some courses AFTER admission to the programme.
i) Will my Area(s) of Focus be shown on the Award Certificate or the Transcript of Study?
Your chosen Area(s) of Focus will be shown on the Transcript of Study.
j) What is the time and venue for classes?

k) When I complete the Master of Education programme, will I obtain the Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Hong Kong?
The Master of Education programme is an academic degree which aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills of their chosen Area(s) of Focus. Completion of the programme will not lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Hong Kong.
l) How much is the tuition fees of the Master of Education Programme in this academic year?
