Visiting scholars and doctoral students joined in celebrating the remarkable contributions of our postgraduate community and esteemed faculty at the EdUHK Learning and Teaching Festival 2026 on 6 March. The university‑wideevent, held under the theme “Transforming Teacher Education and Teaching: Embracing Change and Innovation”, brought together experienced scholars and postgraduate students on a common platform to exchange experiences, research findings, and scholarly knowledge in the field of education.
Prof. Junjun Chen, Dean of Graduate School, gave welcome remarks for setting the stage for today’s session.Professor Jussi Aleksi Kivistö from Tampere University, Finland, delivered the first keynote, “The Future Relevance of Doctoral Education: What Will Change and Why?”Professor Lawrence Zhang from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, spoke on “Methodological Decisions Affecting Research Outcomes and Academic Productivity During Higher Degree Studies: Cases from Published Studies.”Ms Chen Zixuan delivered a presentation entitled “Managing the Dual Identity of the PhD Teaching Assistant”, in which she shared her insights and reflective experiences gained during her study journey.Ms Elaine Lam Yee Ling, specialising in Early Childhood Education, discussed her research on “Teachers’ Scaffolding Strategies on Robot‑specific Computational Thinking”.Mr Daniel Chui Ka Shing presented his research on “Why Teach Mathematical Modelling in Primary Schools? A Comparative Curriculum Analysis of Australia, Germany, Canada and Singapore”, providing fresh insights into the pedagogical value of mathematical modelling.Ms Liu Yongli and Ms Lyu Dongjuan discussed their research entitled “Leveraging AI Tools to Enhance Collaborative Learning in Teacher Education.”After the presentations, Professor Looi Chee Kit, Associate Dean (Quality Assurance and Enhancement) of the Graduate School , revisited the key ideas shared by the presenters and offered thoughtful reflections.
