On 14 May 2026, a delegation of postgraduate students from The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) visited the F.D.B.W.A. Chow Chin Yau School in Tuen Mun. The day-long visit aimed to provide postgraduates with first-hand experience and insights into the instructional models characteristic of a local primary school in Hong Kong.

During the morning session, the EdUHK delegation observed a Primary 4 Science lesson on “Light Reflection in Daily Life.” The lesson demonstrated how a narrative-driven introduction can engage pupils with a topic. In the subsequent practical phase, pupils conducted comparative experiments to show that surface smoothness is directly correlated with image clarity.

Following the Science lesson, the EdUHK delegation split into two groups to observe simultaneous classes. The first group attended a Primary 5 English lesson, in which card and dice games were used to help pupils consolidate their understanding of the grammatical nuances between “when” and “while” through team-based competition. The second group observed a Primary 5 Mathematics lesson conducted in Chinese, in which an in-house-developed, AI-assisted application was used to visualise abstract algebraic and equation-based concepts. The delegation regrouped for the final class observation, a General Studies lesson that simulated a current affairs talk show.

The remainder of the day was spent touring the campus and speaking with teaching staff regarding the adaptation of educational theory to practice. The teachers explained that, while they continually refine their instructional approach, they maintain two core strategies: providing proper and timely guidance to students, and sustaining an interactive dialogue that elicits responses and encourages independent thought.

The visit concluded with the EdUHK postgraduate students noting that the observations enabled them to make logical connections to the concepts covered in their university coursework.
