Ms Jaclyn Tsang Hei, a year 2 PhD student at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), has been awarded the prestigious Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship (for Postgraduate Research Students). Ms Tsang received the news during the EdUHK Postgraduate Student Publication Awards, in which she was honoured for a journal article on dieting.

Dean of the Graduate School, Professor Junjun Chen, noted the significance of the achievement, “Ms Tsang is the first PhD student to receive this award. The Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship recognises Ms Tsang’s outstanding contribution to Hong Kong through her research into healthy eating and exercise.” Prof Chen added that, “The GS will continue to support postgraduate students by recognising and celebrating their efforts.”

Ms Tsang’s research on “Intermittent Dieting and Resistance Training” focuses on integrating evidence-based nutrition and strength training into practical applications. Her goal strongly aligns with the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship’s criteria, as she aims to share research outcomes by delivering up-to-date nutrition and exercise recommendations through community initiatives in Hong Kong.

Before commencing her PhD, Ms Tsang qualified as a Dietitian. She established herself as a leading advocate for healthy eating and exercise, winning the Gold Medal at the 2023 Asian Pacific African Classic Bench Press Championship. Ms Tsang’s book, “Fitness Nutrition Guide: The Science and Practice of Muscle Gain and Fat Loss”, ranked among the top 10 Hong Kong health bestsellers in 2024.
