The Graduate School (GS) held the third Brown Bag Lunch of this academic year on 3 February 2026. Eight students were joined by renowned academic, Professor Samuel Chu and RPg Programme Coordinator, Dr Ripple Lian, for the informal session.

In a relaxed atmosphere, the students shared their first-year experiences through an interactive discussion, covering effective collaboration with supervisors and personal challenges in academia. Prof Chu offered practical advice, such as generating innovative ideas during exercise and targeting top-tier conferences, and recounted inspiring PhD journeys of his doctoral graduates. Dr Lian reflected on her PhD journey and encouraged students to reach out to the GS whenever they have questions or need support.

The session concluded with an encouraging message: avoid self-imposed limitations and persevere through difficulties in doctoral studies.

Doctoral students wishing to participate in future RPg Brown Bag Lunches can register their interest by emailing the Graduate School at rpg@eduhk.hk.
