Abstract<\/strong>The modern society is facing numerous sustainability challenges which require urgent attention. There is a need for multidisciplinary research aiming to understand, mitigate, and solve the complex issues that threaten environmental, social, and economic systems. The seminar will present several sustainability-oriented European research projects coordinated by the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (Bergen, Norway). Given the breadth and depth of sustainability challenges, the selected projects cover a wide range of sustainability issues in various contexts. One of the newly granted projects \u2013 FOODMISSION (funded by Horizon Europe) \u2013 aims at engaging citizens as agents of change for the sustainable food system transformation through a novel gamified educational citizen science virtual platform. Another project \u2013 AQUABALANCE (funded by the Horizon Europe co-funded partnership Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership) \u2013 elaborates on strategies and best practices for balancing economic, environmental, and social sustainability in the European aquaculture industry. CROWDCUL project (funded by the Research Council of Norway) addresses the economic sustainability of the culture sector by exploring an alternative financing tool of crowdfunding. SkillResilience project (funded by Horizon Europe) aims to reframe the concept of resilience of labour markets under the fast-paced digital and green changes and related challenges, and to outline actionable pathways to narrow the labour market mismatches that this twin transition triggers, through reskilling and upskilling. Finally, the UniS4Vest project (funded by the regional research fund of Vestland county) analyses the roles that the main higher education institutions in Vestland county (UiB, NHH, and HVL) can play through their education, research and innovation activities in reconfiguring the regional innovation system towards sustainable smart specialization. By focusing on the research areas outlined above and fostering collaboration across sectors and disciplines, the overall goal of the projects is to contribute to developing and implementing solutions that promote a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n
